Hello! My name is Mrs. Martinez and I am very excited to get to know you this year :) I would like to give you a chance to get to know me. 

I grew up in a small town in northern NJ and knew from a very young age that I wanted to become a teacher. I went to Boston Unipversity to achieve my goal.

This is the 15th year that I will have the pleasure of teaching at Dorchester! During this time, I have taught both 4th grade and 5th grade. I am very excited to continue working within this wonderful community of learners.

For the past eight years, I have been exclusively teaching 5th grade English Language Arts. I love working with students to tap into their creativity and self-expression through writing and explore texts on a deeper level in reading. In 5th Grade ELA, students are encouraged to work together and learn from one another in a safe and encouraging community. 

I like to make learning fun and exciting while simultaneously boosting confidence, comprehension, and a love for learning. I cannot wait to get started!
