My name is Jill Heaney. I love my job! This is my 18th year teaching at Dorchester School and I feel truly blessed to be a part of the Woodcliff Lake community. I grew up in Paramus and attended Montclair State University where I earned my teaching certification. I taught 3rd grade in Paramus and I also taught Media in Montvale. I am the proud mom of two sons, Bobby and Kevin. My father was a teacher, a coach and later in his career an administrator. Throughout my childhood I learned to appreciate the value of being a good teacher.
Each student arrives at school with different ideas, concerns, strengths, and weaknesses. It is my job as their teacher to create a comfortable and safe environment for social and emotional growth as well as foster their learning. I know good teaching should be fun, engaging, and inspire critical thinking. I work diligently to combine all three aspects in order to put my students on a successful path. I look forward to a wonderful year and working with all of you!
Outside of school I enjoy reading, bike rides, jogging and yoga. School is my 2nd home-you will find me here most nights until 5pm - please feel free to call or email with any questions or concerns. I believe open communication is required to ensure a successful year for your child.
